Starting today Metro Manila is placed under General Community Quarantine till June 15

Philippines – Starting today, June 1, Metro Manila will be placed under General Community Quarantine or GCQ along with some area or provinces in the country.

Under GCQ, Metro Manila will experience more relaxed quarantine compared to more strict Enhance Community Quarantine or ECQ and Modified Enhance Community Quarantine or MECQ.

Area or provinces that are now under GCQ are expected to see more visible people outside their houses and workers returning to their respective jobs.

Operations of MRT, LRT are also back into normal, but social distancing is strictly implemented while augmentation buses, taxis and TNVS are also allowed as a means of transportation in the Metro. Jeeps and provincial buses are still not allowed to operate under GCQ.

Provinces that will fall under GCQ starting June 1 to June 15, 2020 are as follow:

NCR
Nueva Ecija
Zambales
Bataan
Bulacan
Pampanga
Laguna
Bacoor

Meanwhile, checkpoints and curfew remain under GCQ, children under 21 years old and 60 years old and above are still under 24-hour curfew. Wearing of face mask is a mandatory requirement for all citizens, physical and social distancing is still in effect, curfews are also apply to all from 10 pm to 5 am, except for some workers and quarantine pass must bring all the times when going outside.

Despite the announcement of President Duterte of downgrading the status of Metro Manila to GCQ many is still questioning the President’s decision? is the country really ready for the GCQ is this too early to be implemented? Should the country remain at MECQ?

Let’s just wait and see this coming days, whether the President and the IATF made the right decisions?
