Philippines - On June 25, 2016 history has been made as the 16th President of the country Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, takes his very first State of the Nation Address (SONA) at Batasang Pambansa.
The President addresses the Filipino people about his strong campaign against illegal drugs, corruption, criminality and future plans and projects for the country.
The campaign against illegal drugs was especially mentioned by the president, he said that drug dealer of all level from the highest to lowest drug dealer must be stop and put them on jail or otherwise put them in the ground.
The President also pointed out the media, who criticize his actions against his drug campaigns? Questioning on why only small time drug dealer are only being caught or killed?
The president said that big fish drug dealer are not here on our country only small fish drug dealer that only here in our country. You cannot arrest them even you bought a battalion of soldiers in their country?
The President also announced a unilateral ceasefire with communist rebels which has been a big problem in the government for a several decade and the president think that this time in his administration it’s time for both parties to have a peace talk and restore peace in the communities.
The President also mention the amendment of bills of prolonging the validity of driver’s license from 3 years to 5 years and the PH passport from 5 years to 10 years.
Future projects are also mentioned by the president such as improving the LRT and MRT system by adding more train, adding more speed and extending the time of operation, improving the airport system by transferring private planes from NAIA to proposed project airport at Sangley point.
Reviving ferry boats in Pasig River are also mentioned in order to ease the congested traffic in the metro.
Federalism was also tackled by the president, he ask the congress to pass a resolution for a charter change? He also mentioned that if federalism occur the country must have a President.
The President is also giving some jokes in some portion of his speech were the audience are laughing!
Meanwhile, for the first time in history militants are allowed to go to Batasang Pambansa to support the president advocacy. PNP Chief De La Rosa order his men to allow militants to pass through to Batasang Pambansa.
