Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and VP Leni Robredo Sworn Oath as the New President and Vice Pres. of the Country

Philippines – On June 30, 2016, a historic event happen in the country as the newly elected President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Vice president Leni Robredo sworn oath in two different location to officially become President and VP of the Philippines.

President Rodrigo Duterte of Davao, is the 16th President of the Philippines and he became the first President elect in history that came from the province of Mindanao.


At exactly 12:00 noon, President Duterte sworn oath to Justice Bienvenido Reyes along with his family his two son and two daughter at Malacañang’s Rizal Ceremonial Hall. The ceremony was attendant by more than 600 guest.

After the oath, the President make his first inaugural speech, he thank first former President Fidel V. Ramos, for making him a President. He address the major problem of the country such as corruption in the government, illegal drugs and criminality in the street.

President Duterte told the congress and the commission on human rights that “He knows the limits and the power of the President. He knows what is legal and was not legal” as a former lawyer and prosecutor.

He also said that his adherence to the rule of law is uncompromising, “you mind your work and I will mind mine”

The President also said that government agencies should lessen the burden of Filipino people of getting government requirements.

Meanwhile, VP elect Leni Robredo is the 14th Vice President of the country and was also the first VP elect that came in Cebu. The Vice president along with her 3 daughter sworn oath in the poorest village barangay captain.

In her inaugural speech she recalls her trials in her life, the death of her late husband Jessie Robredo and now another challenge of becoming the Vice President of the country.
