Graphic Health Warning, Finally Implemented In All Cigarette Packages

Philippines - On March 3, 2016, graphic health warnings on all cigarette packages finally formally implemented and at the same time it will be monitored by many groups of different health organizations.


At the press conference of the group of health organizations, led by the New Voice Association of the Philippines (NVAP), Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Alliance Philippines (FCAP), Health Justice Philippines at Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) they emphatically thanked Health Secretary Janette Garin for the immediate implementation of Graphic Health Warning Law (GHW) indicated by Republic Act No. 10643.

Republic Act No. 10643. Stated in the law that all packages printed by the manufacturers of cigarettes should have graphic health warning.

The pictures of different diseases that can get from smoking must be placed on all the labels of cigarette packages, such diseases that can get from smoking are mouth diseases, throat and neck cancer, besides from being impotence.

Based on record, it reaches almost 200 deaths per day in the Philippines due to diseases caused by smoking.

We all know that smoking is bad in our health with or without the newly implemented graphic health warnings.

Does it really necessary to scare us first before we quit smoking?

In reality, smokers won’t stop smoking till they felt something wrong in their body? That’s true and I hope this graphic health warnings can help and lessen smokers in our country.

It might be impossible to stop the production of cigarettes in the whole world but if you really care for your health you may think first before smoking again?

Sometimes even non-smokers can get diseases from cigarette by accidentally inhaling the smoke coming from cigarette smokers.
