Students Preparations for the Upcoming 2017 – 2018 School Year

Philippines – The 2017 – 2018 School Year is past approaching as the Department of Education (DepEd) already announced yesterday May 9, 2017 that the upcoming Classes in all public elementary and high schools in the country will start on Monday, June 5, 2017.

According to Education Secretary Leonor Briones, the new school year 2017-18 will have 204 school days, including the five days service training of all teachers and the four-day parent-teacher meeting for every three months. Thus substantially according to the agency the students are expected to attend school days for 195 days.


Students that already enrolled especially in Public high schools where students has given an early enrollment during the first week of this month of May, will only have to prepare their things like Bags, notebooks and uniforms while awaiting the June 5 returns to school. While, public elementary students will have to wait until May 15 before they can start to enroll.

For public local student elementary and high school, that have not yet enroll, they only have to bring their card or form 137 to enroll in their respective school that they attended from last school year while local transferee will have to complete or bring the requirements needed by the school before or after they enrolled.

Here is the list of requirements for Transferee Student:

1. Barangay Clearance – get a clearance from the barangay to validate the student residency and good moral character.

2. Birth Certificates - bring a Xerox copy of the PSA birth certificate formerly known as NSO birth certificates, if not available, just tell the designated enrollment teacher that you will just follow the requirements after enrollment.

3. Form 138 – this is also can be brought before or after enrollment, you can apply for this form in the school that the student last attended.

4. Picture – bring a 1x1 or 2x2 picture, this picture should be attached to the students enrollment form.
