Lakers wins their 2nd game of the season escaping the Pelicans in OT

NBA - The Los Angeles Lakers host the visiting New Orleans Pelicans for their first meeting of the 2022 - 2023 NBA Regular Season at Arena in Los Angeles California.

Prior to the game, both teams are coming from a win, the Lakers win the first game of the season over the Denver Nuggets ending the franchise worst start of the season with 0 - 5 win/loss record and even the great LeBron James cannot stop it.

The Pelicans are also coming from a win over the Lakers rival Los Angeles Clippers improving their standings to 4 - 2 win/loss record and currently sitting 4th in the Western Conference Standings.

The Lakers are currently 1 - 5 win/loss record currently sitting second to the last of the Western Conference while the New Orleans Pelicans is at 4th in the same conference. Lakers are looking to extend their wins and hopefully climbs back in the West Standings.

In the game, the early quarter was a close quarter despite the Pelicans is leading for the most part of the quarter and even posted a 7 point deficit. Pelicans outscored the Lakers 27 - 23 up by 4 points.

In the 2nd quarter, the Lakers had a strong quarter, outscoring the visiting team by 16 points 33 - 17 to end the half up by 12 points Lakers 66 - 54.

In the 3rd quarter, the Pelicans run back into the game outscoring the Lakers by 9 points 35 - 26 to cut the Lakers lead into just 3 points Lakers 82 - 79 Pelicans.

In the 4th and final quarter, both teams are exchanging leads until the final minute of the game where the Pelicans had their chance to seal the game in free throws but missed two that gave the Lakers opportunity to tie the game in a made 3's by Matt Ryan to extend the game in Overtime.

Pelicans outscored the Lakers in the 4th, 32 - 29 and end the regulation tied at 111 - 111.

At the Overtime, the Lakers finally sealed the game after blowing a 16 point deficit, they outscored the Pelicans to 9 - 6 in OT with the final score 120 - 117 Lakers win by 3 points.

Lakers now improved to 2 - 5 win/loss record while the Pelicans 4 - 3 win/loss record. Lakers Guard Lonnie Walker leads the Lakers in scoring with 28 points while LeBron and Anthony Davis also added with 20 points apiece.

Pelicans superstar Zion Williamson dropped 27 points while CJ McCollum added 22 points in a losing effort.
