Lakers Officially Acquired Russell Westbrook via Trade

NBA – On Friday, August 6, 2021, The Los Angeles Lakers had officially acquired the 2017 league MVP and 9 - Time NBA All – Star Russell Westbrook via trade from Washington Wizards.

The Wizards agreed to trade Russell Westbrook in exchange of Lakers Forward Kyle Kuzma, Shooting Guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and 2020 Sixth Man of the Year Center/Forward Montrezl Harrell.


Russell Westbrook is an elite NBA Superstar himself averaging Triple Double Season for the last Four consecutive NBA Regular Season and he currently holds the most Triple Double in league history with 184 Triple Doubles surpassing the great “O” Oscar Robertson with 181 Triple Doubles.

Westbrook has been a journeyman in the league for the fast three NBA Regular Seasons. He was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008 and played 11 years with the Thunder.

He reached the 2012 NBA Finals alongside former teammate’s Kevin Durant and James Harden but bows down to then super team LeBron James and the Miami Heat in the 2012 NBA Finals.

In 2019 – 2020 NBA Regular Seasons, Westbrook reunites with his former OKC teammates James Harden after the Thunder and the Rockets agreed to trade Westbrook for All – Star Chris Paul. Westbrook helps the Rockets in the post season, but eliminated by the LA Lakers in the 2nd round.

In 2020 – 2021 NBA Regular Seasons, The Rockets traded Westbrook for John Wall of the Washington Wizards. Westbrook helps the Wizards of reaching the post season, but eliminated by the 76ers in the 1st round.

And for the 3rd consecutive season Westbrook is traded once again and this time with the Los Angeles Lakers. Westbrook will join fellow league MVP LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Carrnelo Anthony forming their own version of super team in LA.
