PBA – The quest for the 2016 - 2017 PBA Philippine Cup Championship between the Defending Champion San Miguel Beermen and Barangay Ginebra are now tied. The Kings even the series in a thrilling and exiting Game 2 in a jam pack arena at the Quezon Convention Center.
In the 2nd Half, the Beermen find their way to get back in the game outscoring the Kings in the 3rd quarter 39 – 18 cutting down the lead of Ginebra in just 3 points at the end of the 3rd quarter 82 – 85. The Beermen manage to take their 2nd lead in the game after a two made free throws by Ronald Tubid with 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter 96 – 95.
Meanwhile, Ginebra who blew a 26 point lead, manage to stay in the game exchanging leads with the Beermen in the later minutes of the 4th quarter. The Kings manage to post a 5 point lead advantage before entering the last two minutes of the game, but the Beermen with the help of Arwin Santos gives a 5 -0 run to tie the game with only 47 seconds remaining in regulation.
In the next possession Japeth Aguilar was fouled and take two free throws to take back Kings lead 108 -106 with only 34 seconds remaining in the game while Gabby Espinas of San Miguel made a 3 point basket to take back the lead 109 – 108 with 21 seconds to go.
Ginebra made a turnover in their next possession that lead to Beermens opportunity to seal the game? But miraculously Arwin Santos loses the ball to Scottie Thompson that gives the Kings another opportunity to win the game?
With only 5 seconds remaining Aguilar shoot a 3 point shot, but missed a possible game winning shot and Ronald Tubid was fouled to take two free throws, however made only one free throws to give the Beermen 110 -108 lead with 3.2 seconds to go.
Joe Devance of Ginebra take the hero shot that eventually tied the game 110 all and gives another 5 minute extension to the game Ginebra outscored the Beermen in OT, 14 – 8 that ended the game with the Final score 124 -118 and now even the series 1-1 apiece.
Game 3 is scheduled on March 3, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
