Labor Day Scheduled Activities and Free Rides in the Metro

Philippines – On Monday, May 1, 2017, the country will be having a nationwide, regular holiday to commemorate the annual celebration of “Labor Day”. Labor Day is the day where all workers are being recognized from all their hard works, loyalty and patients with their different jobs in the country and at the same it is also the day where the demonstrations and rallies send their sentiments to the government when it comes to labor sector.


And due to this special day some government, transportation like Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT), will be conducting a free ride in a scheduled time where all workers who can show a valid ID that can identify them as workers can have a free ride from the said transit from 7 am to 9 am in the morning and again 5 pm to 7 pm in the afternoon.

Hundreds of workers will be having the benefits of free rides from MRT and LRT by showing their valid working ID’s and save their money for paying their transportations on Labor Day only and just remembered the time issued where they can avail the free ride.

Meanwhile, some 1,600 policemen will be deployed in different areas in Manila where the center of labor protest today is scheduled. According to Manila Police District (MPD) Director PC Supt. Joel Coronel, they will focus on areas like Chino Roces Bridge in Mendiola, Liwasang Bonifacio in front of the Manila Central Office, Plaza Miranda in Quiapo and also at the US Embassy in Roxas Boulevard.
