Isaiah Thomas Drops 17 Pts. In Cavaliers Debut

NBA – The much awaited debut of 2 - time NBA All-star Isaiah Thomas as part of the Cleveland Cavaliers finally happens during their game against the visiting Portland Trail Blazers at Quickens Loan Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. 

Thomas played only 18 minutes in a very limited time drops 17 points and 3 assist in a 127 – 110 win over the trail blazers ending the Cavaliers 3 – game losing skid.


The Cavaliers now improve their standing to 25 wins and 12 losses to solidify their position at 3rd spot in the East Standing right behind the Toronto Raptors at 2nd and East top seeded Boston Celtics while the Trail Blazers loss drops them to the 7th spot in the West Standings with 19 wins and 18 losses.

In the game, The Trail Blazer is mostly in control of the early quarter, posting an early lead of 7 points but the home team with the help of Isaiah Thomas scored the last 5 points of the quarter to end the 1st quarter tied at 28 – 28 all.

In the 2nd quarter, The Cavs start strong taking their first lead of the game by as much as 7 points, but the visiting team rallies back to regain the lead as the quarter came into tight contention at the end of the 1st half 56 – 53 Portland up by 3 points.

Early in the 3rd quarter, both teams are switching leads not until the Cavaliers had their momentum with under 4 minutes to go in the 3rd. The Cavs manage to put an 8 points separation, but again the Trail Blazers went back to end the 3rd quarter down by just 4 points 87 – 91 Cavs by 4 points.

In the 4th quarter the Cavaliers started to pull away in the game outscoring the visiting team in the final quarter 36 – 23. 7 Cavs players scored in double digit points led by LeBron James with 24 points, Love with 19 points, Crowder with 17 points, Wade 15, Green with 10 and Thomas with 17 points while Damian Lillard of the Trail Blazers scored the game high of 25 points.

Tomorrow the Cavaliers will visit the TD Garden for the 2nd match of the season against the East best record Boston Celtics, The Cavaliers win the 1st meeting in Cleveland.
