Will Derrick Rose Resurrect His Career in Cleveland?

NBA – On July 25, 2017, former MVP and 3-time NBA All-star Derrick Rose signed a 1 year deal worth $2.1 million with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rose contract with the Cavaliers was his lowest contract since entering the league and despite having many suitors or teams that can give him a much better salary this season Rose decided to join LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers under a minimum salary for an NBA veteran.

Derrick Rose was drafted by the Chicago Bulls as the #1 pick overall in the 2008 NBA Draft and later that year he wins the “Rookie of the Year”, since then he has been the face of the Bulls, a title contender and a treat to the LeBron James team in the East. In 2011, Derrick Rose became the youngest player in the NBA to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award at age 22 years old ending LeBron James possible 3rd straight MVP.

Rose career with the Bulls has been a mixed of good and bad, the Bulls have always been a title contender every season and a treat to LeBron James whether in Miami or in Cleveland when Rose is healthy? And due to frequent injury that Rose encountered every season his faith with the Bulls slowly fades away, not until he was traded in 2016 sending him to the Knicks where he play for the 1 season and again was ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing the meniscus in his left knee.

Derrick Rose was once an NBA Superstar in his early years and perhaps top ten point guard in the league with less versatility, at age 28 he is still young and way more to go in his NBA Career if only his injury will not cheat him? Rose injury front caused him from being a max player of averaging $21.32 million salary last year in Knicks uniform and now down to a minimum veteran’s fee of $2.1 million with Cleveland.

Now that Derrick Rose will join forces with his former rival LeBron James in Cleveland will his career revitalized? Especially that Kyrie Irving demanded a trade out of Cleveland, Rose will have more playing time at point guard position and perhaps help the Cavaliers reach their 4th straight NBA Finals appearance and wins his first ever NBA Championship?
