Philippines – The senate start the investigation of the controversial killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. and co in-mate Raul Yap in Baybay City Sub Provincial Jail.
Mayor Espinosa together with co in-mate Yap was reported shot dead inside their prison cell after a search warrant took place Saturday morning of November 5, 2016 conducted by the operatives of the PNP's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Region 8.
The killing of Mayor Espinosa lead to many confusion’s especially in resolving the drug relation problem in the country? With his death his knowledge with drug trading and some known personnel involving in drugs might be not exposed?
There are many question why the late Mayor was killed? Who wants to silent him? Is the killing was plan? Did the CIDG did not coordinate with the Baybay City Sub Provincial Jail Or did the late Mayor has really had a gun inside his cell and confronted the CIDG when the search warrant was applied?
Some Senator’s believe that the killing of Mayor Espinosa was pre-mediated or planned. According to reports CIDG calls for Scene of the Crime Operatives or SOCO before they even enter the Mayors prison cell, senator Lacson and senator Gordon question the CIDG on why calling SOCO early? are they really expecting that someone will die or the Mayor will die that time?
But the CIDG denied the allegation and said that they are not really focusing on what time it was called to SOCO?
The late Mayor Espinosa is among of the politicians name by President Duterte involving in illegal drug trade. In August, the Mayor surrendered to PNP Chief Reynaldo “Bato” De La Rosa saying that he feared for his life against the government's intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
