Typhoon Butchoy (Nepartak) Is Now Categorized as Super Typhoon

Philippines – Local name typhoon “Butchoy” with international name of “Nepartak” is now considered as Super Typhoon by different Bureau of Weather Station in the world.

Typhoon “Butchoy” has already enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility or PAR and it is located at 615 km East of Basco, Batanes which has a strength of Maximum sustained winds of 210 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 245 kph and it is moving Northwest at speed of 30 kph.


The typhoon will not directly hit the country as it moves toward the country of Taiwan base on the track showing by different Weather Bureau Station. Despite indirectly hit, the country is expected to experience a light to moderate and heavy rainfalls due to easterly wind that pulls by the typhoon “Butchoy”.

Public Storm Signal Warning:

Signal # 1 – has already raised in the area of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands, they will experience strong winds from 30-60kph. The rest of the country has not yet raise any public storm warning signal as of now.

Typhoon “Butchoy” is expected to exit the PAR section on July 8, 2016.

Two more typhoon is expected to enter the country for the month of July according to PAGASA.

Small boat and fishing vessel are advised to take precaution to sail the sea of the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon or much better not to sail during this time of weather disturbance. Waves that are expected to encounter is as much as high as 4 meters during this time.
